Travel more. I've never been outside Canada, the US, and Israel. In fact, I'd love to see more of Canada and the US too; I've never been to the north, or BC, or the prairies, really (that week I spent in Edmonton for MusicFest in high school doesn't count), and the only states I've been to are New York, Michigan and California.
Write some music I don't hate, using Csound. I've been fiddling around with it a bunch off and on over the past 2-3 years, and I'm finally getting to the point with it where I can produce textures that I find at least somewhat aesthetically pleasing (yeah, I'm pretty picky—more about my musical proclivities some other time).
Have a vacation that lasts for more than a week and feels, from one end to the other, like a vacation, and not just a different rat race in a different context than my usual one.
Get to sandan (third degree black belt) in aikido. This is the highest rank you can get by testing (i.e., having your skill level evaluated by a panel of your superiors); after that, promotions are "political". I'm on track to test for my shodan (first degree black belt) next May in Montreal, so at least moderate progress is being made on that front.
Be involved in a software project that is interesting, fun, and successful. I keep hitting one or two out of those three targets at a time.
Figure out how to write short fiction. It's something I've always been fascinated by; all my favourite authors write short stories, and I vastly prefer reading them to reading novels. To clarify: reading short fiction is one of my very most favourite things to do, and I think I can string a sentence or two together pretty well, but I've never been able to figure out how to get into the process of actually writing the stuff.
Taste pa daek. I'd like to know what all the fuss is about; what's the verdict: tasty or gross?
Edit 1: May rightly points out that I have, in fact, been to New Jersey. Oops, I forgot.
Edit 2: Dang, I forgot that trip we took to New England before the kids were born! The one where I got my concertina fixed at The Button Box and we had such a nice time in Montpelier, VT. And how could I forget the time I drove down to Boston with Larry, Corey and Jordy to pick up Adam, who'd just graduated from Berklee, and help him move back to Ottawa? Sheesh. How'd I forget all that? So: I've been to Vermont, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts, too. But! The thing about travelling still stands: there's lots left in the world that I'd really like to see and haven't yet had the chance.
